We were lucky enough to have Kody's dad and brother come visit help us with pulling carpet and priming our walls.

Today was a blast getting rid of all the carpet and beginning the painting. It makes the process seem more real. It is starting to feel like our own home!

Prep Work

In order to get everything ready to start painting I started taking all the outlet covers off and cleaning up the house. This was fun and easy for the kids. I was even able to get some help from Miss P.

(It was crazy hair day. I don't usually style her hair with cupcake liners!)

What  are your tips for prepping a house? As a new homeowner I could use any advice.

Choices

After spending many years dreaming of my own home, I have collected pictures and things I love, so that when we did buy a house I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

Flooring: I decided I wanted wood floor throughout my house. I love the look, its easy to clean and something my husband and I could do ourselves. I choose the Blackened Maple laminate flooring. I love the rich color and the detail that is throughout the floor. I also love that it has a smooth finish on it (that makes the cleaning factor EASY).

Paint: I narrowed my choice down between the Revere Pewter and Stonington Gray. Once I held the samples next to each other, the choice was easy. I love the gray! So I went with the straight gray instead of the greige. I love the color. I also choose Decorators White for my ceiling, trim and window cases.

I cant wait to start painting walls and putting down flooring! What is your favorite paint color?

It's Official

We dotted our "I's" and crossed our "T's", and it is all official! We are now Home Owners (or on our way to actually owning a home). We couldn't be more excited. We bought this 1900's charming vintage home. Now the work begins as we make it ours and take it from an ordinary house to a home!

New Beginning!

My husband and I are excited to enter a new stage of life. Home Ownership. As we take the plunge into owning a home we want to document the progress we make along the way. We are excited to be signing papers for our first home this week!
